INT'L COLLABORATION - Road 'no accident' says World Health Organization
Washington, USA - A collaborative venture by seven automotive and oil companies aims to cut the growing toll of road casualties in developing countries...is at the heart of a $10 million project to cut the 1.2 million road deaths and 50 million injuries globally... supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Red Cross and Crescent Federation, the idea is to be implemented by the Global Road Safety partnership(GRSP)... multi-national companies contributing to the initiative include Shell, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Michelin, Renault and Toyota. The programme intends to bring together representatives from governments, business and non- governmental organisations to work together on practical ideas to improve safety in the developing world, so as to reduce the serious social and economic impacts of road casualties.
