ENERGY BILL - USA - Too Little Too Late

ALEXANDRIA, Va.,USA -U.S. Newswire, by Bill Graves * -July 7 2005: -- Even if Congress manages to pass the Energy bill this year, when it comes to rising fuel costs and their impact on the nation's economy, H.R.6 will be, in some respects, too little too late... Few industries feel the impact of rising fuel costs more directly than trucking... In recent months, motor carriers have, like many businesses, reported that rising fuel costs hit their bottom line, impacting quarterly profits. The trucking industry will spend at least $72 billion on fuel in 2005a $10 billion increase over 2004 figures. That follows a $10 billion increase over 2003. But if prices continue skyward, the impact will be far more reaching than just how much it costs to fill up at the pump...
