High fuel prices are putting the brakes on road transport

Queensland,Australia -ABC Regional Online, by Kate Raston -26 Sept 2005: -- The Australian Trucking Association says businesses should be prepared for rising freight costs, as petrochemical industry insiders warn the price of fuel could again be on the rise... fuel bills at his company have increased by 30 per cent in the last 10 months... He says transport companies have levied customers to help cover the rocketing price of fuel... More than 200 drivers disrupted traffic on the Pacific Highway at Macksville to highlight concerns over the cost of fuel and pay rates. But Ross Fraser says the blockade means truck drivers now have to work overtime to meet delivery and loading commitments.He says drivers working long hours to reach deadlines risk fatigue related accidents...
