Warn - Australia - Tougher trucking laws

Queensland, Australia -Brisbane Courier Mail -20sep05 :-( TRUCKING companies have been warned they will soon face "substantial" penalties if they pressure truck drivers to overload their rigs or meet unreasonable delivery times... The New South Wales Government's "chain of responsibility" laws, which broaden the responsibility for heavy-vehicle safety compliance, come into effect on September 30... Roads Minister Joe Tripodi said that under the legislation, all parties in the "chain" - consignors, packers, loaders, receivers, drivers and operators - must take steps to prevent breaches of road transport mass, dimension and load-restraint laws...
