Fines - Guam/USA - Smoke-belching vehicles will soon face GEPA

Maigue -15 Apr 2006: -- The Guam Environmental Protection Agency is taking steps to curb the harmful emissions that sometimes are emitted by tour buses, dump trucks and other heavy vehicles... Guam EPA Environmental Health Specialist Steve Norby said the agency has had a lot of success with its Air Pollution Control Program, under which dozens of trucks have been brought in for evaluation and even given notices of violation. While the program has been in existence for several years, Guam EPA last week said it still is awaiting the approval of the federal EPA to allow the local agency to fine violators. It was not immediately known when approval would be granted, Norby said...
