Research - USA - Indicates trucking capacity issues persist

NASHVILLE, Ind.,USA -Logistics Management, by Jeff Berman -June 26, 2006: -- Trucking capacity is likely to remain tight throughout the rest of this year and 2007, according to recent research from FTR Associates, a transportation research firm... FTR cited strong performances in manufacturing and freight-producing sectors as drivers for tight capacity, and added that United States Class 8 truck capacity being used has been in excess of 90 percent over the last nine quarters. And the research firm said total ton miles will grow by 2.1 percent this year, with modal share for trucks slated to increase to 44.8% this year and 45.3% in 2007...
