Many big rig under-carriages have magnesium parts because magnesium is lighter and stronger than other metals. Magnesium will ignite if heated and touched by fire... Because magnesium takes longer to extinguish, cargo and fuel are more likely to catch fire. Roads can also be damaged by the extremely hot metal...
