TRUCKS ACCIDENTS * France: Stable for 2016

* Paris - Road safety: rising mortality among commercial vehicle users

--- Mortality of truck drivers is stable for 2016. On the other hand, it is rising sharply for the users of commercial vehicles, reveal the figures of the National Interministerial Observatory of road safety... The figures for road accidentality increase for the third consecutive year. The final report 2016 of the National Inter-ministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR) reports 3 477 deaths in an accident in metropolitan France. Even though 16 more people lost their lives compared to 2015, the figure remains broadly stable. The number of casualties recorded a slight increase of 2.6%, with 72,645 victims in 57,522 bodily injuries... Among the accident factors, excessive speed is still the leading cause, followed by alcohol, incriminated in 23% of cases in the 35-49 age group. Consumption of narcotic drugs mainly affects the 25-34 age group...
